At the service of society

Economic and social development must go hand in hand with positive community growth. Starting from this premise, at Fundació Crèdit Andorrà we devote a significant part of our efforts to promoting and supporting a variety of actions focused on the wellbeing of people.

In 2017, our work in this area concentrated on programs aimed at senior citizens and at disseminating knowledge about diseases with a large social impact.

However, we also wanted to highlight other actions and initiatives, such as those featuring the Special Olympics Andorra sports federation and participation in the Concòrdia international umbilical cord donation program.

The strength of senior citizens

At Fundació Crèdit Andorrà, we dedicate a large part of the social program’s material and human resources to senior citizens. Through L’espai, an activity and training social center exclusively for older people, we offer this age group a wide range of activities so they can stay active and take part in all the opportunities offered by the knowledge society and new technologies.

Up-to-date health

Helping the population of Andorra achieve a better quality of life is the purpose behind the key initiatives in this program. Serving people and ensuring their wellbeing is the common core of a wide variety of talks, workshops and informational material focused mainly on people with diseases with a large social impact, in addition to their families and companions. The close collaboration with the associations involved enables us to reach an even wider audience of people who benefit from this program, as well as becoming more familiar with the reality that affects them.

Over the course of the year, the Fundació has continued to broadcast informational segments from the To Your Health program, which started in 2016 and is produced in collaboration with various professionals in Andorra.

Breaking down barriers

The main aim of the Fundació’s support for the Special Olympics Andorra sports federation is to provide support for sports as a tool for the social integration of people with mental disabilities.

Nourishing hope

The commitment to solidarity and contributing to people’s wellbeing has led the Fundació to take appropriate steps to provide people and families in adverse situations with food, personal hygiene and household products, through the collaboration agreement with Càritas Andorrana.

Other initiatives

At Fundació Crèdit Andorrà, we support the Concòrdia program, an international cooperation project involving pregnant women in Andorra and various autonomous communities in Spain that enables women from different regions without a tissue bank to donate umbilical cord blood.

The Concòrdia program saves an child’s life

A seven-year-old child’s life was saved thanks to the transplant received with umbilical cord blood from a donor in Andorra.

In the four years the program has been running, two transplants have been carried out using specimens obtained in Andorra: the first took place in 2014 and the second was during the first half of 2017. The program’s monitoring committee met in Andorra and highlighted the increase in the number of umbilical cord donations in Andorra, promoting the use in transplants.
